Edwin Penrose Frank

My grandfather Edwin Frank was always known as 'Ed' and this gave rise to some confusion in the records because when people needed to write his formal name they tended to assume it was Edward and write it down that way.   But Edwin is correct.  He is also included in the group pictures of Penrose's four sons; to see these click the Penrose page at the bottom of this one.   Ed and Eva had two boys, Leland Abner Frank 1903-1979 and my father Laurence Keller Frank1906-2000.   Eva died in 1909 and Ed raised his boys alone though most of their childhoods; a good account of this is given in Laurence's 1997 book "To be Frank...".

In 1916 Ed Frank remarried, to Albertha Klipple (I think that this was her married name from a former husband; I do not know her maiden name), and had two more children, Wilson Sylvester 1917-1990; and Berniece 1922-.  I do not have childhood pictures of them.
